Michael Langman

Founder & co-president of senior executive association Wharton Aerospace which he founded in 2003 and also the founder of the 1492 Club for US-based senior executives of foreign defense companies seeking to expand their US footprints. He is also a board director at the National Defense University (NDU) Foundation.

Michael’s business experience includes over twenty years in strategy consulting (McKinsey and PwC), investment banking (The McLean Group) and Fortune 500 corporate development (Rockwell Collins and Thales) roles. In these positions Michael closed over 18 very successful M&A transactions with enterprise values ranging from $5M to $14B.

 

Michael is currently a Strategic Solutions Senior Director at enterprise artificial intelligence company C3 AI.  Prior he was VP Strategy, Business Development & Sales at AI unicorn SparkCognition and VP Partnerships at Israeli cyber counter-UAS start-up D-Fend Solutions. His international experiences incudes service with $20B French company Thales where he was responsible for ideating & initiating partnership activities across the Thales enterprise globally with Lockheed Martin, Boeing, L3Harris and other large US defense companies. Early in his career Michael also worked in expatriate Israel-based executive positions at Tadiran Communications.

 

Michael’s formative experiences include intelligence operations and combat service with the 82nd Airborne Division (Operation Desert Storm & anti-terror/counter-espionage operations in Egypt), Task Force 118 (a unit of armed OH-58Ds and Navy SEALs performing then-classified missions against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards) for Operation Prime Chance, and intelligence operations with the 519th Military Intelligence Battalion (Airborne) for still-classified missions for the XVIII Airborne Corps (operations against Nicaraguan Sandinista forces in advance of Operation Golden Pheasant), the JFK Special Warfare Center & School and national level agencies.

Michael was graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service where he concentrated in Arab Studies and holds an MBA from the Wharton School.  He resides in Tysons VA with his wife Richu Yang and children Justin and Jade. These childrens’ names begin with the letter “J” in memory of his uncle Jacob Kaduri who was killed in action while serving with the Israel Defense Forces,

 

Michael is the US-born son of Israeli emigrants and speaks fluent but American-accented Hebrew.

Scouting of technologies from Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to support the Army’s Modernization Mission. Transitioned critical foreign technology to US Programs.

 

Commander Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Battalion-level equivalent joint and multi-national organization located in Israel. Experience with operations and production facilities of most Israeli Defense Contractors in Israel. Oversight for 800+ contracts valued at $2.3 billion in five countries, supporting 13 U.S. major procurement commands and 20  service/joint program offices. Programs include F35,F15,T-28 (IAI), F35 (Elbit), Toplight (Raphael).  Responsible for leading and directing military, civilian, and Israeli national acquisition professionals.

 

Coordinator for the US Army's research in Israel and 13 countries in the Middle East and Africa with research centers including:  Army Research Labs, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Medical Command, and national-level offices such as the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD).  US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC).

 

Engineering initiatives to the Warfighter   G3-operations for a 2-Star Command consisting of 9 subordinate organizations and 17,000 civilian personnel worldwide and manages $93M in support of collaborative, rapid engineering initiatives that provide responsive services and solutions to the Warfighter.
